Shao has consulted with and received research grants from companies and agencies including Honeywell, Ports America, CAPS Research, IARPA, Kairos Research, HRET, Research Triangle Institute, National Governors Association, and Arizona Department of Health Services. He has been serving on the editorial boards of several academic journals, including Journal of the Association for Information Systems, Decision Support Systems, Information & Management, and the special issues of MIS Quarterly and Information Systems Research, among others. ![]() Carey School of Business, the Outstanding Teaching Award for Department of Information Systems Masters Programs, the DISC Professor of the Year, and the John W. Professor Shao received several teaching awards at ASU, including the Outstanding Graduate Teaching Award of the W. His research was mentioned in media outlets such as The Wall Street Journal, Harvard Business Review, The Arizona Republic, and National Public Radio. He has published in leading journals and proceedings by associations AIS, ACM, IEEE, INFORMS, and POMS. ![]() His research interests are in IT impacts, data analytics, digital platforms, IS security, healthcare IT, and IS/OM interface. ![]() Shao is the Associate Dean for Asia-Pacific Programs and Initiatives, Professor of Information Systems, and the Director of the Digital Society Initiative.
